Run like a "Bad Bass" at Lake Chabot!
Congratulations Bad Bass runners! Results are now up here.
Saturday, July 31st!
Start times:
Half Marathon: 8:00
10K: 8:25
5K: 8:35
Join us at the beautiful Lake Chabot Marina in Castro Valley for the scenic Bad Bass 5K, 10K or Half Marathon.
Starting and ending at the Lake Chabot Marina, all courses include rolling, but very The 5K will be almost entirely on paved trails around the lake. The 10K and half marathon are roughly 50% on paved trail and 50% on fire trails.
Whether you are an experienced trail runner or a first-timer ready to get your feet dirty, you should thoroughly enjoy these races.
Hikers/walkers are always welcome! A one-hour early start will be offered to half marathon walkers/hikers. Those taking the early start must be competent at following the course maps (course marshalls may not yet be on the course) and will not be eligible for any age group or overall awards (they will, of course, receive finisher medals and shirts, like all other participants).
All finishers will receive custom finisher medals and custom shirts (cotton and tech shirts available). More info on shirts/awards page.
Age group awards will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in 5 year categories (less for the younger ages).
All races will be professionally timed.
Shirt sizes (and tech shirts) can only be guaranteed to those who sign up by 7/18, so we recommend early registration.
Photos from other recent races can be found here.
About Lake Chabot
Lake Chabot Reservoir was built in 1874-75 as a primary source of water for the East Bay. The 315 acre lake was closed to recreation for 91 years until
legislation opened it up in the 1960s. Today the lake serves as a standby emergency water supply and is a favorite of local fisherman looking for trout, catfish, bass and other fish.
